How does a monitor calculate resolution?

A monitor calculates the resolution by dividing the width by the height. The higher this ratio is, the more pixels it has on its display. For example, if a monitor has a width of 1920px and a height of 1080px, it will have 1920/1080=2.0725 or 2.0725 million pixels per square inch (PPI).

How to use this free screen resolution calculator tool?

Using this tool is extremely easy as you don't need to input anything in the text fields. You just need to land on the page and it will show you the resolution on your screen on page load. You will see resolution in different sizes right after loading the page.
